Your Maison 58 questions, answered
Who will be treating me?
Every client is cared for personally by Nurse Cathy Douglas, RPN, MBA, CIDESCO. For more than 22 years, Cathy has devoted her career to medical aesthetics, skin health and the art and science of aging well. The practice is supported by Alison Anger, NP, providing an additional layer of medical oversight and clinical collaboration.
Is my assessment private and confidential?
Yes. At Maison 58, your aesthetic journey is confidential, personal and entirely unhurried. Appointments take place in a quiet, private setting and are centred entirely around you.
What are neuromodulators and how do they work?
Neuromodulators relax specific facial muscles responsible for expression lines and unwanted muscular pull. Treatment is precisely placed and individualized according to facial anatomy, movement and symmetry. At Maison 58, the goal is to soften unwanted lines while maintaining natural expression, balance and character.
How long do neuromodulator results last?
Results typically last 3 to 4 months, and some clients enjoy results for longer. Longevity depends on factors such as muscle strength, metabolism and the treatment area. Regular maintenance treatments help keep results consistent.
Is neuromodulator treatment safe?
Product selection and dosing are individualized according to facial anatomy, muscle strength and desired outcome, and every treatment is performed personally by Nurse Cathy Douglas, RPN. The practice is supported by Alison Anger, NP, providing an additional layer of medical oversight and clinical collaboration. Possible side effects and aftercare are discussed during your facial and skin assessment.
What are dermal fillers?
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers strategically restore age-related volume loss, support facial structure, improve proportion, refine individual features and improve skin hydration and quality. At Maison 58, filler is not about changing your face or simply adding volume. The goal is to restore balance and refine features while respecting your natural anatomy, so you continue to look like you, only refreshed.
What areas can be treated with fillers?
Common treatment areas include the cheeks and mid-face, lips and perioral area, chin, jawline, oral commissures, nasolabial folds, under-eye area, areas of age-related volume loss, hands and intimate rejuvenation. During your facial and skin assessment, we determine where treatment will make a meaningful difference, and where it won’t.
How long do fillers last?
- Filler results typically last 6 to 18 months depending on the product used, the treatment area and your individual metabolism. Hyaluronic acid fillers gradually dissolve naturally over time. We recommend a maintenance schedule during your facial and skin assessment to keep your results looking their best.
What is the difference between neuromodulators and fillers?
Neuromodulators relax specific facial muscles to soften expression lines such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. Fillers restore age-related volume loss, support facial structure and refine features such as the lips, cheeks and jawline. Many clients benefit from a plan that thoughtfully combines both.
What skincare products do you recommend?
We offer carefully curated professional-grade skincare products that are specifically chosen to complement and enhance your treatment results. These medical-grade products are available for purchase to maintain your beautiful results at home.
What about bruising and swelling?
Some mild bruising and swelling are normal after filler injection. This typically subsides within 24-48 hours. Arnica may help reduce bruising.
Can I combine fillers with other treatments?
Yes. No treatment is chosen in isolation. Fillers are often thoughtfully combined with neuromodulators, regenerative treatments and skin treatments to restore balance, improve skin quality and create natural results that still look unmistakably like you.
What is PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)?
PRP is derived from your own blood and contains growth factors that stimulate collagen production and skin rejuvenation. It’s a natural approach to improving skin texture and appearance.
How is PRP different from PRF?
PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is an advanced version of PRP with higher concentrations of growth factors. It typically produces longer-lasting results and may be more effective for some clients.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable that stimulates your body’s natural collagen production. Results develop gradually over weeks and months, providing natural-looking volume restoration.
How many PRP/Sculptra treatments do I need?
Most clients require a series of treatments. A typical protocol is 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Results improve over time and can last 1-2 years.
Are PRP and PRF safe?
PRP and PRF are prepared from a small sample of your own blood, an autologous approach that works with the body’s own regenerative processes. Expected downtime and aftercare are discussed before treatment.
What skin treatments do you offer?
We offer chemical peels, microneedling, IPL photofacial, laser therapy, and professional facials. Each addresses different skin concerns like aging, texture, sun damage, and discoloration.
What's the difference between a chemical peel and microneedling?
Chemical peels use acid to exfoliate the skin surface. Microneedling uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries that stimulate collagen. Both improve skin texture but work differently.
How many treatments do I need?
This depends on your skin concerns. A series of 3 to 6 treatments is typical. Nurse Cathy will build a treatment plan just for you during your personalized facial and skin assessment.
What's downtime like?
Downtime varies. Chemical peels may involve redness and peeling for 3-7 days. Microneedling typically has mild redness for 24-48 hours. IPL may have slight redness for a few hours.
Can I get a skin treatment before an event?
Yes, but timing matters. Gentler treatments have minimal downtime. Peels and microneedling are best done 1 to 2 weeks before an event to allow skin to fully recover.
